On Conflict, Fear and Pleasure..
Well , this break from blogging was scheduled.
I have been reading JK these days.. It is truely enlightening to know your life is under chaos(as JK puts it) and it can be lived merrily ,if we know the root cause of human emotions.
He talks so elaborately about human brain , the thought process , “ME” as an illusion (or rather a pile of perceptions about one self) , love without attachment or possession, relationships , conflict . so on and so forth. The recent tragedies in the name of God are disheartening ..JK says “Man loves his God and releigion, because he invented them”.. I would say man loves his ideas , his policies , his beleif more than anything. It occurs to me that all these that are done in the name of God , reflect man’s fear of losing his beleif, his fear of detachment from the illusion about himself and his beleif.
Have the modern releigions really taken spirituality to people ? Do they really serve the purpose , they were intended to.God knows !!! Man has to know to live without divisions, divisions of releligion , origin, country ,etc..He should learn to resolve conflicts, both internal and external. Are we yet to evolve into that stage ?? I wish more great minds like JK be born, rise up and preach man what he was intended to do as a social animal in this planet.
Hi,
Agreed that JK’s thoughts are great. But I feel they are more atheistic. And I don’t understand what you meant by “modern” religion. In my view, the perpetrators of these crimes in the name of God are people without a heart and can’t be linked to any religion.
And it must be understood that religion itself must be a cause for unity. This is because each religion tell the same thing in different ways (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holy_Science) . And in this, unity is needed to understand how something complex in one religion is easy in another.
The topic that he delves into are not entirely new. They are the very same statements that spiritual leaders(not religious, but spiritual) put forth centuries ago.

Hi..
His topics are not new , but the way puts them and his thought processes are good.
I don’t mean by this post that JK is the first person to talk about harmony
All religions have evolved over time, some religions have merged(there are no saivaites or vaishnavies , there are only hindus now).. I mean by “modern religions” , the religions that exist today.. thats all.
I completely agree that many spiritual leaders and great minds like Vivekananda have insisted upon the same ideas.
I would love to read them as well…

Accidentally I got touch with your blog through one of your friend’s blog .I want to make some comment on your response to one reader that you mentioned there are no saivaites or vaishanavites now.Broadly we can define the Hindus who is accepting Vedas and Upanishads.Vedas call ultimate truth as Brahmam (not Brahma). When naming the ultimate truth and explanation of Vedas and Upanishad makes the subdivisions of Hinduism.
If you read Devaram you can understand how this separation and unification work in a big frame work of Hindusim. When Chekizhar mention birth of Thirugnanasampanthar in Thiruthondar puranam(Periya puranam),he tells “Veda neri thazhaththonga meegu Saiva thurai vilanka”.here first word Veda neri means hinduism,Saiva thurai means sub sect saivism. You can see lot of statements like this in tamil saiva literature.
Saivism and Vaishnavism are subdivisions of Hindusim which are still prevail. When people say they are Hindu, you have to understand in this broad sense.many of the people not aware of their sub divisions because they are not taught properly that never means those are not exist;for them religion means only faith and rituals. But still you can verify saivaties and vaisnavities by some practices.eg.saivaties wear thiruneeru, vaishnavites thiruman.
