why should the Indian government be running telephone and internet services ??
Hmm… blog has also become a place to pour out frustration nowadays!!! Looks like BSNL will have an impact on my whole personality and make me an emotional, angry young woman
I have had so much bad experiences with BSNL in just a month of contact with them.
Those who read this…I would suggest you not to go for a BSNL connection, especially in Bangalore! It is better to remain disconnected from the rest of the world than to have a BSNL connection
You are prone to high blood pressure, mood swings, extreme frustration (may be even heart attack, who knows
) if you are a BSNL customer
Before you apply for a landline connection, ensure you already have a cheaper phone connection, because you may have to call so many people (starting from the line man to the deputy general manager or even principal GM) and follow up to get the connection done. If you dont know any higher official then forget about the connection
the probability of anybody, who doesnt know to bribe or to influence a higher official, getting a BSNL connection is infinitesimal.
Ok. You luckily got one !! Don’t be pleased !! There is no guarantee for it to work!! It may even stop working in a week..I keep hearing about plans that BSNL has to address customer issues within 24 hours. But I lodge a complaint and ask when will it be addressed, I am told, “today is a holiday, tomorrow is also a holiday, there are already some problems” (i dunno the details)” so it may take a week..” May be what I heard was a myth !!
And every time I call the customer service center people shout at me or ask me to call somebody else!!
Now that I have poured out all my frustration, I am trying to figure out what could be the root cause of such poor service !! (Should this be called a service ??) Is everybody out there not working ? Isnt the Indian government worried about making more profit out of BSNL or even rectifying loss? I dont know if BSNL runs under loss, but I wonder if they are making handsome money, because customers like me run away from BSNL soon ![]()
Is it the guarenteed job that makes people tardy and complacent ? Should there be a performance based compensation and benefits?? (That will be a wonderful idea !!!)I dont know what makes this system so inefficient.
God save BSNL and poor customers like me !!!
Hahaha….. BSNL is open to public… So u can understand and evaluate them, a Govt org….. Think about ISRO, DRDO……. Who knows the yield of BNuclear Bomb, Who knows the success of Chandrayan…. Be happy that you dont get those blood pressures, mood swings, extreme frustration etc., etc., bcas of the way your tax is spent on…..

But did u know that BSNL was founded by the govt to connect entire India, and it has done that. It was meant to be more of a social initiative and it has done a considerable lot in connecting villages & towns with telephones..now, of course they are trying to compete with pvt players like Airtel & Tata Indicom etc & things are going badly. The soln is to privatise it, as you said, but the employees are resisting..u know why..
i remember wanting to blow up 2 offices in bangalore – KEB (now bescom) & BSNL

Myself settled with a BSNL connection in Chennai and happy for the past 2.5 years
Even I had moved from Velachery to Valasarawakkam with ease and downtime of hardly 3 to 4 days! Of course in Valasarawakkam I have this connection for more than a year now and didn’t had downtime yet (you know I run my connection with 2 computers almost 24×7). BSNL Chennai rocks

Yeah, I heard that BSNL chennai is very good. But I dont know why its exactly the opposite here. It has been 20 days, but nobody is yet to look into my complaint. Same with so many BSNL customers here, as far as I heard.

Hi,
A few things. BSNL is run, not with profit in mind but with connectivity. For eg. There are parts of India where BSNL is the only service provider. The reason being, none of the private operators provide services in areas that are not profitable for business. So, govt. has to run that organisation, profitable or not.For the same reasons, you can ask why should govt run anything at all. BTW, BSNL is not actually run by govt. any more. It is just like BHEL, BEL,HAL etc.It is a PSU since 2000.
For the question “Is everybody out there not working ?”, you would not have asked it if someone whom you know very well works for BSNL. People are in fact toiling hard to achieve zero-downtime goal.
Till now my experiences with BSNL Bangalore has been quite good except for one instance. I got my landline in 10 days and my broadband in 2-3 days after that. My phone has never went down and my Internet is also working quite well(it failed once for 4 days in the past 1 yr) . And in TN, we have had a phone connection for so many years and it has never gone down even once and never had to complain even once.(except during floods of course).
As to “performance based compensation and benefits”, that will never happen in the near future, for reasons that you know quite well
